CANNES, FRANCE DDB South Africa swept the Press category, nabbing the Grand Prix at Cannes for its work on behalf of Energizer while Turner Duckworth took top honors in Design.

The Omnicom Group shop took top honors for its series of ads for Energizer Lithium Batteries. In "Paint," a little boy is depicted with a paintbrush in hand in a room with a white carpet and white dog. "Pants," "Park" and "Spit" were the other executions rewarded.

Jury members said the Energizer work stood out because of the humanity it brought to the pieces.

Craig Davis, chief creative officer at JWT, London, and jury president, said the jurists were in unanimous agreement that the DDB work was the most distinctive of the submissions.

"Doing great work is really difficult," he said. "It asks a lot of all involved."

In Design, the jury awarded a Grand Prix to Turner Duckworth for its work for Coca-Cola. Turner Duckworth, based in London and San Francisco, worked on packaging and identity for the client.

BBDO continued its hot streak for HBO "Voyeur," taking home a gold Lion in Design for its outdoor projection to go with its Grand Prix in Promo, Outdoor, gold in Cyber and bronze in Media. Omnicom's Goodby, Silverstein & Partners won a gold Lion for its "Elections" poster for Huffington Post.

This is the first year Cannes has given awards in Design.

"I really do believe that Design at Cannes will emerge over the years as the single most important design award among the many in the world," said Rodney Fitch, chairman and CEO of Fitch, London, and jury president.
