NEW YORK Glam Media has launched a video distribution platform that will receive content from programmers including Sony BMG, E! Online, Lifetime Networks and TV Guide Broadband.

The new platform, known as GlamTV, will play to the company's massive base of female-skewing Web sites. Glam's network of 500 sites reaches 35 million unique monthly visitors in the U.S.

"GlamTV was one of the early dreams for the Glam founding team in its very first business plan," said Samir Arora, chairman, CEO of Glam, "and I am excited to see it grow from seed to idea to a powerful platform and valuable service."

Programming that will run across Glam's sites include "E! News Now" updates. Other content contributors include CelebTV, Safran Digital Group and Turner Broadcasting New Products Group.

GlamTV also has a deal in place with Brightcove to enable its customers to distribute video content through Glam's network of sites.

In February, Glam said it had raised $85 million in private financing. Its investors include GLG Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Accel Partners.
