Blacker tapped for lead post at Telemundo's new digital division.

NEW YORK Telemundo has united the operations of its digital media business and mobile properties under its new digital media and emerging business division led by Peter Blacker, who has been promoted to evp.

Blacker reports to Jacqueline Hernandez, COO, Telemundo, overseeing the new digital unit that unites the wide reach and assets of YahooTelemundo.com, HolaMun2.com and its international and emerging platforms.

The move to a seamless business unit is intended to "fully leverage Telemundo and mun2's original programming through custom-branded entertainment, digital and mobile cross-platform solutions," the company said.

As a combined digital force, the Telemundo digital media division streams more than 9 million videos each month, per the company.

The division will also incorporate the company's mobile, licensing and merchandising efforts in the digital arena.

In his new role, Blacker will work closely with local Telemundo stations, advising them on ways to define, execute and implement digital media and revenue enhancing strategies within local Hispanic markets.

"Telemundo's unique original content capabilities across all screens provide the perfect formula for delivering a comprehensive media strategy," said Hernandez. "Peter's leadership in this space continues to take Telemundo to the next level while further positioning the network as a major industry player that can produce and distribute top-tier content on all platforms to both our advertisers and audience."

Blacker formerly served as svp, digital media, Telemundo Network Group. He joined Telemundo in 2005, leading the company into the digital media space and developing the network's partnerships with Yahoo!Telemundo, and iTunes (on the launch of iTunes Latino). He also launched the popular bilingual youth site HolaMun2.com.
