MySpace Ups Jeff Berman

April 21, 2008

- Alex Woodson, The Hollywood Reporter

NEW YORK News Corp.'s MySpace has promoted Jeff Berman to the new post of president of sales and marketing.

Berman was upped in January to executive vp content and marketing. Before that, he was GM of MySpaceTV, where he oversaw the launch of that platform in June.

Berman will now oversee the social networking giant's online marketing, content and programs, branded sales and advertising partnerships.

"The idea is to make sure that the programming and content is aligned with our sales efforts and is serving our community and clients as best as possible," Berman said. "This move streamlines our processes."

Berman has been at MySpace since 2006, starting as svp, public affairs.

The move comes as MySpace increasingly positions itself as a content provider. The company has co-produced two Web series in the U.S., "Roommates" and "Special Delivery," and is producing content overseas, including "Beyond the Rave" in the U.K.

Several reports pegged Berman as MySpace's new head of sales when Fox Interactive Media, the News Corp. division that houses the company, announced a realignment this month.

Berman continues to report to MySpace co-founder and CEO Chris DeWolfe.
