BOSTON Boosting its digital marketing capabilities, MDC Partners' Crispin Porter + Bogusky said it has acquired i-shop texturemedia, which specializes in Web site design and development and digital marketing and consulting.

Texturemedia, located in Boulder, Colo., where Miami-based Crispin also maintains a large office, has been in business for seven years, developing programs for clients such as Fidelity Investments, Google, Kaiser Permanente, Midas, Pentax and Wells Fargo. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Co-chairman Alex Bogusky called the acquisition "one of the most important steps
we've taken in [building] our digital capabilities. With an existing department of 80 people and having won digital agency of the year two years in a row at Cannes, we still believe we've only begun to scratch the surface of what interactive work can be in the future."

Andrew Davison, CEO of texturemedia, said joining Crispin "allows us to further leverage our interactive expertise at the highest level."

Texturemedia placed No. 75 on Entrepreneur's Hot 100 Company Rankings in April. It employs about 60 staffers and claimed 2007 sales of nearly $7 million.

The firm will be fused  into Crispin's interactive and integrated departments and the mediatexture name will no longer be used.

Davison becomes an account director in content management moving forward and Ivan Perez-Armendariz, president of texturemedia, will move over to Crispin as an executive integrated producer.

Among traditional agencies, Crispin has long been a leader in the digital marketing space, gaining initial credibility several years back with its lauded "Subservient Chicken" Web effort for Burger King.
