The Webbys will announce award winners on May 5.

NEW YORK R/GA scooped up 14 Webby Award nominations, leading all agencies in the Internet competition.

The New York digital shop notched two nominations for its digital work on customization application NikeID and consideration for the Brooklyn Academy of Music site, Nike Human Race and Pepsi banner ads.

R/GA will vie with other shops looking to win Webby Agency of the Year Award honors, the first time the awards show has presented the prize to the shop that wins in the most categories.

Wieden + Kennedy and Crispin Porter + Bogusky were tied for the second-most nominations with eight each. Wieden notched consideration for work on behalf of the Nike Foundation and the film Coraline, while Crispin's Whopper Sacrifice Facebook application is a contender in the online guerilla and innovation category and "Whopper Virgins" was nominated in branded content. Mobile specialist Hyperfactory also got eight nominations, including work for Toyota, Guinness and MasterCard.

Other shops recognized include DDB with six nominations, Razorfish with five, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and BBDO with four each, and Lean Mean Fighting Machine, Modernista!, Poke and Euro RSCG with three apiece.

On a holding company level, Omnicom Group fared best with 17 nominations, followed by Interpublic Group with 15.

Last year, R/GA and Crispin led with five nominations each.

The Webbys will announce award winners on May 5 and hold a ceremony featuring its famous five-line acceptance speeches on June 8. Saturday Night Live's Seth Myers hosts this year's ceremony.
