BOSTON Modernista! said Nick Simmonds, managing director and managing partner of the independent agency's office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, since May 2006, died on June 27 of a brain hemorrhage. He was 47.

The Boston-based shop's founding partners, Lance Jensen and Gary Koepke, issued this statement: "We are still beyond belief about what happened. Nick was truly one of the smartest and honest but above all most big-hearted people we know. Having him no longer around is leaving an immense gap. Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

His funeral will take place in London's St. Michael and All Angels Church on July 8. A reception will immediately follow the services at the Roehampton Club.

There will also be a celebration of his life on July 12 at Cafe Thyssen in Amsterdam.

Simmonds began his career in the U.K. in 1982 at Allen, Brady & Marsh as account manager. He joined Publicis in London as client services director and moved to Amsterdam in 1997 for Wieden + Kennedy, where he ultimately rose to head of account services, managing teams on pan-European and global clients.
