Datri to Succeed Snyder at AAF

April 28, 2008

-By Adweek Staff

WASHINGTON James Datri will succeed Wally Snyder as president and CEO of the American Advertising Federation, the organization said today.

He will take over on Nov. 1, following Snyder's retirement after 15 years leading the trade industry group.

Murray Gaylord, chairman of the AAF board of directors, said in a statement: "The advertising industry is in the midst of the most profound transformation in 50 years, and Jim truly understands the unique challenges for marketers, advertising agencies and the media in today's landscape. The search committee developed a long list of criteria, and Jim matched all."

Datri is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery in McDermott's government strategies practice. He served as executive director of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives from 2003-05.

"I have known Jim Datri from his time on Capitol Hill and his work with the AAF on our issues and programs," Snyder said. "He will bring energy and enthusiasm as he represents our members both in Washington and in their communities."

Added Datri: "The AAF is an effective and dynamic organization, whose membership I look forward to serving."
