Grey Taps Tilford as ECD

NEW YORK Grey has tapped Todd Tilford as ecd in its flagship office here.

Tilford, 45, reports to Tor Myhren, evp, CCO of Grey New York, and the agency views his arrival as a key development in the transformation of its creative department.

For the past two years, Tilford has worked as a creative consultant, mainly for Crispin Porter + Boguksy in Boulder, Colo. (on Nike running shoes) and Core in St. Louis (on digital and social marketing efforts for Gucci and Warrior Sports).

In a statement, Myhren said he has "admired Todd's work for the past decade. He is an original thinker."

Tilford added that he and Myhren "share the same creative principles and I look forward to helping him achieve his dream of making Grey one of the top creative shops in the country."

Tilford in 2005-06 worked at BBDO in New York as ecd, design, reporting to CCO David Lubars. In that capacity, he launched BBDO's first design department and led global rebranding on Braun. Prior to BBDO, he was a cd at TM in Dallas on Subaru, Nortel and Macy's, among others.

Still, he is perhaps best known for his 1990s stint as founder and cd of Pyro, the Dallas-based boutique he started inside The Richards Group. Pyro grew to be well regarded for its innovative efforts for Hummer and Converse.

Other recent senior creative hires by Grey include Noel Cottrell (to head E*Trade) and Don McKinney to oversee the shop's digital expansion.
