LOS ANGELES RPA has elevated Gayle Gray from associate media director to director of integrated media, a new post, according to Meridee Alter, the independent agency's svp and media director, to whom she reports.

"We've grown the integrated marketing business exponentially and very quickly and it is definitely time to expand along with our traditional counterparts," said Alter at RPA in Santa Monica, Calif. "Gayle brings a wealth of knowledge of traditional media, too."

Gray started at the shop 20 years ago as a media department assistant and had held successively higher positions ever since. In the intervening years she had worked on American Honda Motors and Honda Motorcycles, Pioneer, Bosley and La-Z-Boy.

Her duties will now expand to include Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Pharmavite's Soyjoy, Pentax, Lenox Financial, Reily Foods and MGM, accounts that total more than $1 billion in combined annual billings.

Gray said she was particularly excited by the prospects of the job both for its interdepartmental flow and owing to the "open territory" the newness of the position presents.

Alter agreed that "compared to television especially, [integrated media] is leading edge."
