Oberlander Joins Cossette in N.Y. as CCO

He had been one of 8 executive creative directors at McCann Erickson

LOS ANGELES Bill Oberlander is joining Cossette in New York as chief creative officer, according to sources.

Oberlander since 2004 has served at Interpublic Group's McCann Erickson, also in New York, where his title has been evp, executive creative director. He reported to McCann CCO Joyce King Thomas and he worked on Black & Decker, ExxonMobil and Intel.

Oberlander replaces Robert Reiser, who parted with Cossette several months ago.

Reps for Cossette and McCann declined comment late Tuesday, and Oberlander could not immediately be reached.

At McCann, he was one of eight cds who reported to Thomas. Oberlander joined the shop from WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather in New York.

Cossette is based in Quebec City and its corporate parent entity is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Cossette employs 1,600-plus staffers worldwide.

Clients in Cossette's New York office include Estee Lauder, McGraw-Hill, the U.S. Coast Guard, MasterCard Advisors and Carlsberg Beer.
