Previously, Young served as sustainability advisor and outreach manager to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, where he was a core member of the "Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia" team. ![]() Porter Novelli Adds 2 Senior PlayersJune 23, 2009 Global public relations agency Porter Novelli has hired veteran communications strategist Catherine "Kiki" McLean (shown) as partner, global head of public affairs and managing director of the shop's Washington, D.C., office. McLean most recently served as a partner of the Dewey Square Group, a public affairs consulting firm, where she led the communications practice. She appears frequently on national television as a political and current events commentator. McLean succeeds longtime Porter Novelli executive Carolyn Tieger, who announced her retirement earlier this year. McLean will oversee Porter Novelli's public affairs teams across its global network. "With Kiki onboard, we are taking our agency game to the next level at a time when the business of Washington is wielding more influence for all our clients worldwide," said Gary Stockman, CEO of Porter Novelli, in a statement. He had been ecd at Ogilvy & Mather's Brand Integration Group, which joined forces with Brand Union earlier this year. In his expanded role, Bates will serve as Chief Creative Officer of The Brand Union North America and the joint venture with Ogilvy & Mather. Rob Scalea, N.A. Bodrie said: "The work I did with David and Bob Ranew at McKinney was some of the most satisfying of my career, whether on big accounts like Audi, or on little projects like Gibson, where we got paid in guitars. ![]() TDA Recruits Client Service ChiefJune 12, 2009 Independent TDA Advertising & Design in Boulder, Colo., has hired Chris Steinkamp, as director of client services, replacing Teri Fildey in the agency-wide executive position. Steinkamp's previous advertising and marketing positions have been in Los Angeles. Prior to a stint as director of marketing for extreme ski and surf film company Teton Gravity Research, Steinkamp, 45, was director of integrated marketing at David & Goliath. Before that, he spent seven years at TBWA\Chiat\Day, finishing as management supervisor on Nissan. He has also been account director at Deutsch, on clients including DirecTV and Mitsubishi. Steinkamp states: "I first started looking at TDA's work, for clients like Chipotle, a few years ago, when I was at Chiat/Day. I saw the same level of creativity, but coming out of a staff of dozens, instead of hundreds. I knew I wanted to work at a place that had the structural ability to be nimble -- and where I could make a difference." ![]() LevLane's David Lane to Chair PennFutureJune 05, 2009 David Lane, president and co-founder of advertising agency LevLane in Philadleephia, has been elected board chair of the environmental organization PennFuture in Harrisburg, Pa. He succeeds Virginia Brown, who resigned to pursue other interests. Lane has been a PennFuture board member since 2004. Said Lane: "I have always been passionately green, passionate about the outdoors, about fishing and camping and hiking, and PennFuture is doing the important environmental advocacy and legislative work that I deeply believe in. They recognize that a strong Pennsylvania economy is helped, not hurt, by a strong environmental stewardship, and they get results." Under Lane and Bruce Lev, LevLane has been active in green causes. This spring, the agency volunteered to help clean up FDR Park in South Philly. Names 3 SVPsJune 03, 2009 IPG's McCann Erickson in Los Angeles announced today that it has appointed three executives to its leadership team, the first senior-level hires since Cathy Saidiner joined the agency in late 2008 as president. Christian Cocker (shown) has been tapped as svp, director of account planning. Cocker will lead the strategic planning department. Michael Rice joins as svp, director of digital. He is charged with further strengthening the agency's new-media capabilities, including strategy and production, and he will play a key role in business development and talent recruitment. The third addition is Joe Bock, who joins as svp, group account director for Nestlé, a business that includes the Nesquik, Coffee-mate and Nescafe/Taster's Choice brands. Adds Caiozzo From CrispinMay 07, 2009 IPG's McCann Worldgroup in San Francisco has appointed Paul Caiozzo svp, cd, effective June 1. Caiozzo joins the agency from MDC's Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Boulder, Colo., where he had been an acd. In his new post, Caiozzo will report to S.F. CCO Rob Bagot and work across various accounts, as well as help in new-business efforts. In nearly three years at Crispin, Caiozzo worked on high-profile efforts for Burger King ("Whopper Freakout," "Whopper Virgins" and "Flame") as well as Volkswagen, the Alliance for Climate Protection and Jawbone. Prior to Crispin, he worked at Taxi's New York office as a senior art director where he helped launch Amp'd Mobile.
