Viral Factory Realizes Idea of Dropping Paper Planes from Space

By Michael Musco

It took a few months to come to fruition, but the creatives at The Viral Factory have now completed their mission of releasing paper planes filled with Samsung SD memory cards from outer space.

Despite the “awful weather,” TVF found an ideal spot in Wolfsburg, Germany to launch a giant helium balloon carrying over 200 paper planes with the memory cards (loaded with data) attached into the sky reaching 37,339 meters (or approximately 122,5oo feet). While up in the air, the balloon burst and took only 40 minutes to fall back to earth, according to TVF, and landed in a forest just southeast of Berlin along with a couple of paper planes that were entangled. The SD cards found worked perfectly, FYI.

As for the rest of the planes, they could be anywhere. So, if you happen to stumble across one, TVF urges you to visit the project site and inform them.  Maybe the folks at rival Toshiba have some footage to go along with that of their “space chair.”
