Even if you’ve never heard of Pomplamoose before, there’s been no way of escaping this twee twosome and their Hyundai advert, which is right up there on the annoying scale with Vampire Weekend’s cheery Honda spot and song, “Holiday.” The Hyundai offering has been on for a while now, but Yahoo decided to finally profile this act, which is comprised of Marin County, CA-based singer Nataly Dawn and multi-instrumentalist Jack Conte. Though they basically butchered one of the most familiar holiday tunes, we actually can tolerate some of Pomplamoose’s offbeat covers (check out the rendition of “Mr. Sandman” for the Toyota Avalon after the jump). Now, the only thing is deciding who takes top honors out of the aforementioned bands in the most mind-numbing auto commercial category this season.
