Hot property of the moment Uber has found some odd business partners in recent months: GM and Toyota, Concur, same sex marriage supporters and even, yes, the Republican Party.
We didn’t really imagine unlicensed taxi apps and potato chips as natural partners, but what do we know?
This spot, created by BBDO Energy for Frito Lay, launched today.
The most interesting part of the campaign, though, is Uber’s role.
Uber customers who call a courier (or UberRush) car during this campaign will be able to enter a code provided by Lay’s and get a free basket of the chips currently competing to win the “Do Us a Flavor” contest.
Yes, it’s only for two days. And it only applies if you call from somewhere between 14th and 96th streets in Manhattan. And there will only be 200 such baskets.
So the spot above is really just a small part of a larger campaign involving several complimentary agencies.
For the record, we can’t imagine enjoying cappuccino potato chips, even if they do happen to be free.
