Tribal DDB’s Hernandez Lands at Ogilvy in Dual Role

By Matt Van Hoven

Little more than a year after leaving Ogilvy, David Hernandez is rejoining the agency, and boy are they getting some bang for their buck. Hernandez joins OgilvyOne as Managing Director and Ogilvy & Mather as ECD, the agency told us in a statement.

Hernandez leaves following a bunch of layoffs at the agency. We hear as many as 20 were let go. Who wasn’t in the office yesterday? Apparently, TribalDDB Chicago boss Paul Gunning, who replaced Lizz Ross awhile back.

Also departing the TribalDDB family is San Francisco general manager Geoffrey Gougion. Update: AdAge reports Gougion was replaced by Tribal’s U.S. co-president, Mike Parker.

Does anyone else think it’s strange that top people land heads-up so soon after their agency falls?

Update 2: The work may be heading to New York, which possibly has some good news coming from all this. Why say that? All is not lost, brethren.
