Tracy Awards Honors the Worst of the Worst

By Kiran Aditham

Poor Manning brothers. The pro footballers/lovable hayseeds were amongst many to face the firing squad of the Tracy Awards, which was founded by Tracy Crowell of Salt Lake City-based something called Crowell Advertising. The Mannings’ Oreo DoubleStuf spot (below) joined 11 others as Madison Ave’s worst of 2009 including the Microsoft Windows 7 Family guy spot and Snickers’ “Snacklish” campaign, the last of which won the “Best High-Profile Fall from Grace” award.

Other categories included the “Best Use of a Dead Horse to Beat Another Dead Horse While Jumping the Shark” (Coors’ “Post-Game Coach Interview” (below) took the honors) and “Best Use of a Jingle to Justify Suicide” (Bear River Mutual).

According to the WSJ.com’s Speakeasy, anyone could nominate or enter an ad. Thousands of entries were apparently received and Crowell whittled them down to the 12 “best” which you can see on the site. You can also view many of the leftover entries in the “Cream of the Crap” section. See if you agree or not with the selection.
