Tide Responds to Onion Article

By Kiran Aditham

In case you didn’t catch it, last week, those rapscallions at The Onion posted an op-ed of sorts penned by a character named “Fred Hammond,” who carries the long-winded title of director of digital video and social media ad integration for the P&G detergent brand. Anyhow, the piece basically took the piss with the concept of viral, social media and the like all at the expense of Tide, which has responded in kind with the somewhat amusing clip you see above.

Featuring a bloated “rock star” who looks and sounds like a cross between Bret Michaels and Vince Neil along with a bunch of furry friends, the video references The Onion article while promoting Tide Boost in the process. From what we’re hearing, the clip was produced by Digitas, which would not comment. Well, at least we can credit Tide for having a sense of humor.
