-Saatchi/Cheil/Ogilvy alum Joe McDonagh has joined Seattle-based digital creative shop WINTR, which works with clients including Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Live Nation, as its new chief strategy officer.

-The Global Awards, which celebrates the “world’s best healthcare advertising,” has announced the shortlist for its 2013 competition. link

-Following a review, cherry-flavored soft drink brand Cheerwine has awarded AOR duties to fellow North Carolina operation BooneOakley, which will handle both creative and media. Budget’s undisclosed but first BO work for Cheerwine will break in 2014.

-Julie Genung, whose resume includes stints at the likes of Fallon, Element 79 and Ogilvy, has joined Minneapolis-based strategic design firm Little as project director. At Little, Genung will work with clients such as Target and Wells Fargo.

-Omnicom/DAS agency Siegel+Gale has released its 2013 Brand Simplicity Index. Among the highlights, Amazon is ranked the #1 most simple brand in the U.S. (ALDI is #1 globally) and Samsung took over Apple for the first time. link

-Guy Bevan, a VCCP/Draftfcb alum who most recently served as planning director at Karmarama, has joined Connect Advertising and Marketing as its new head of insight.
