The Martin Agency Plays Operation for Geico

The Martin Agency launched a new 30-second spot for Geico, the latest in its “It’s What You Do” campaign for the client.

The spot opens on a surgical team rushing in a patient with “foreign objects in the body.” As the surgeon begins operating, the patient emits an unmistakable buzzing noise and it’s revealed that he’s the guy from the board game Operation. “If you’re the guy from the Operation game, you get operated,” says the voiceover, “It’s what you do.” The premise, and its well-executed reveal, are mildly entertaining upon first viewing, a definite step up for the campaign, which has also included spots with “Free Range Chicken” and Salt-N-Peppa. It may not win the same kind of accolades as the agency’s “Unskippable” pre-roll effort for the brand, but it’s certainly memorable enough to stick with viewers after they’ve seen it.
