The Eye Stays Open in TWC’s Logo Makeover

There’s no dramatic change-up ala Gap’s much-maligned rebranding, but there is a slight difference in Time Warner Cable’s new logo (the one below) nonetheless. The redesign comes courtesy of WPP-owned The Brand Union, which introduces a new typeface, TWC Round, that’s based on Stag Sans Round by Christian Schwartz.

Besides the bubblier font and more colorful appearance, Brand Union chose to make the eye & ear symbol more prominent and minimize the “Cable” part since TWC now hawks phone, on-demand and internet services as well. It makes sense we suppose since the symbol’s been part of Time Warner Cable’s brand identity since 1990. What say you about this new visual identity? Yea? Nay? Meh?
