TBWA\Media Arts Lab Hit With Layoffs

Apple’s dedicated agency has gone through a round of layoffs.

A source with direct knowledge of the matter said the cuts are due to structural changes within the agency, and are not a result of any relationship changes with Apple. It’s unclear how many staffers were let go.

“Yesterday was a difficult day, as we had to part with some of our talented colleagues. Our relationship with Apple has never been stronger, but as the needs of our client continue to evolve, we must adapt and continue to evolve the composition of our teams,” the agency said in a statement.

“Decisions like this are never easy, nor are they taken lightly, but unfortunately it is the nature of the advertising business. We are incredibly grateful for the many contributions of those who are leaving us and the impact they have made at MAL and on the work,” it continued.

In 2017, Apple restructured its relationship with TBWA\Media Arts Lab to focus more on creating digital and regional campaigns (and less on translating big brand campaigns for global markets).
