T-Mobile Flash Mob Part Deux: Heathrow Airport

By Bob Marshall

T-Mobile is back to give those stuffy old Brits across the pond a bloody good thrill in the name of cell phone service. Last time, we saw the wireless company’s flash mob break “spontaneously” into choreographed dance at the very busy Liverpool Street Station. This time, the fun-loving culprits have set up camp at London Heathrow Terminal 5, the largest free-standing structure in all of Great Britain and home to British Airways’ global hub. It is safe to say that this probably confused the hell out of some international travelers experiencing English culture for the first time.

This morning, the flash mobbers struck, breaking into song for a new a T-Mobile spot titled “Welcome Back.” Really, who wouldn’t like being serenaded with “Return of the Mack” upon your arrival home? And, just in time for the holidays, the spot combines the teary Heathrow Airport greetings from Love, Actually with the “All You Need is Love” wedding flash mob from the same movie.

“It’s about fun, it’s about enjoyment, it’s about people getting involved” says T-Mobile brand director  Spencer McHugh. The three-minute ad will debut on Friday at 10pm on pretty much every major TV network in the UK.
