It may have lost out on the Droga5 holiday card account (har har), but Dallas-based Slingshot has now won business that’s much closer to home, namely the State of Texas. Yessir, following a two-month review, the Texas Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism has picked Slingshot to handle tourism marketing and ad services for the Lone Star State.
Unfortunately, Slingshot is following in the seemingly endless and somewhat silly “Team” theme (Team Mazda, Team Sprint, etc.) by creating, yes, “Team Texas” that will be comprised of itself, Dallas-based creative boutique Belmont Icehouse and various international partners. The Texas Tourism biz will be run out of Slingshot’s Dallas HQ (though the agency will soon be opening up shop in Austin as well) and will include the usual components such as TV, print, digital, social media and experiential events. Expect first work to launch by the end of this summer.
