Senior CDs Leaving Ogilvy

By Kiran Aditham

There’s a little creative director shakeup happening at O&M this week as sources familiar with the matter confirm to us that Chris Mitton, Bruce Henderson and Josh Tavlin are all leaving the agency. Before you start blaming anyone specific or crying mutiny, our sources tell us that the departures are all unrelated. Tavlin (pictured), who’s been with Ogilvy for nearly two decades and currently holds the title of SVP/GCD in New York, is joining Momentum as ECD effective Feb. 1.

Mitton’s departure is a little murkier as sources say that his leaving has nothing to do with the agency, but is due to “personal reasons” and he’s getting out of New York to take a job elsewhere. The ECD was recently paired up with David Carson, who joined Ogilvy a month ago, to work on American Express and IKEA among other accounts. As for Henderson, who’s currently a top creative at OgilvyOne, we’ve been told that he’s leaving to take an ECD post at a “top direct marketing agency.”

This latest round of exits follows those of Tom Godici and Greg Ketchum, who worked on the IBM account but left in October of last year for BBDO after Steve Simpson took over at Ogilvy. We think the words “feeling redundant” could apply in this case.
