Buz Sawyer, the W+K vet who left the agency over a year ago and eventually found a gig as Cheil Worldwide’s North American CEO at the end of 2010, has hired TM Advertising alum Dave Weaver to serve as managing director of Cheil-owned One Agency.
Weaver isn’t moving very far, though, as he’ll still be based in Dallas and oversee One’s office there as well as its flagship location in NYC. With his hiring, Cheil is hoping that the exec helps expand the South Korean holding company’s client roster in NA beyond Samsung (of course) and whatever Hankook Tires is. Prior to TM Advertising, where he directed strategy and planning for American Airlines and Bausch + Lomb, Weaver held executive strategy posts at Publicis and TBWA\Chiat\Day.
