RAPP New York Parts with Managing Director Rick Doerr

By Erik Oster

RAPP New York has parted ways with managing director Rick Doerr, an agency spokesperson confirmed, and is currently in the process of appointing a replacement.

Former EMEA/APAC president and EVP of events Marco Scognamiglio took over as RAPP global CEO this summer following the resignation of Alexei Orlov (who has since taken up blogging) in the wake of a discrimination lawsuit filed against him by former RAPP U.S. president Greg Anderson.

Scognamiglio recently relocated from London to New York and appears to be making some organizational changes, although it’s unclear if this is related to Doerr’s departure. The agency spokesperson did not elaborate on the reasons for the move or the machinations of the selection process for Doerr’s successor.

Doerr arrived at RAPP as managing director in August of 2015, following over three and a half years in the New York office of independent agency with T3, where he served as SVP, managing director of the New York office and then president, chief client officer. Prior to that he spent around five and a half years serving as managing director, southern China and regional business director, Asia for BBDO Hong Kong. He also held the senior account director title at BBDO New York and worked on the agency’s Pizza Hut account.
