One Trip to the Mall Could Turn You into a Fakeass Don Draper

For the second straight year, Banana Republic is getting all giddy about the season premiere of Mad Men and happily plugging the show in more than 400 of its stores.

This year though, Gap Inc.’s “high-end” chain has unveiled a “Mad About Style” guide which pairs Mad Men characters and images with Banana Republic looks and is available in-store while supplies last. Guess the show is too good for the Men’s Wearhouses of the world, but nonetheless, in one of the lamest statements ever, BR president Jack Calhoun says promoting the AMC hit seems ideal since “Mad Men and Banana Republic are both mad about style.”

Other elements of the campaign, which runs from July 21 to August 11, include a Facebook and AMC website presence as well as a “casting call” contest to earn a walk-on role in an upcoming episode.
