Omelet L.A. Snags Another One from 72andSunny

By Patrick Coffee

After hiring former 72andSunny GCD Grant Holland to lead its creative team, L.A.’s Omelet has brought another MDC Partners vet over to work in “the best fucking office ever.

Dan Ruth joins the shop today as its chief production officer while simultaneously scoring a spot in our Headshot of the Year contest. (He could be disqualified for altering an image, but our rules are very flexible.)

Ruth will work alongside Holland again in Culver City after spending more than four years as an executive producer on the Activision account at 72andSunny, where he worked on all the shop’s video game ads: Call of Duty, Destiny and Skylanders. In the new role he will handle digital, broadcast and experiential production work for all of Omelet’s clients in addition to helping “grow the company’s capabilities for existing clients and future partnerships.”

Prior to going 72andSunny-side, Ruth spent four years as a senior integrated producer at CP+B working on Burger King, VW, Slim Jim and many more. During his stints as a freelancer, he also handled projects for Goodness Mfg., Trailer Park and the art collective FriendsWithYou in addition to other production companies.

Regarding his new gig, Ruth says, “Omelet shares a mutual dream of flexing craft and pushing beyond what is expected in the pleated pants culture.”

Chief brand officer Ryan Fey, who may also be the world’s biggest Pterodactyl fan, adds:

“Omelet is a special group that values creativity, culture and drive over everything else so we take great care in hiring new people. Dan has everything we search for in a leader and more and we know he’ll be the perfect fit.”

Finally, chairman and CEO Don Kurz calls Ruth “a world-class producer and leader,” adding that “we’re confident that he’ll be an excellent addition to our management team and the agency overall.”

That jump shot might come up a little short, though.
