Ogilvy New York Crafts Ode to Crappy Wrapping for The UPS Store

By Erik Oster

Ogilvy New York launched a new, 30-second spot for The UPS Store entitled “Wrapping vs. Packing” that takes a humorous look at a relatable phenomenon.

Those of us who are less gifted at the art of wrapping presents will find plenty to relate to in the ad, which depicts a variety of botched wrapping jobs. “Wrapping vs. Packing” uses the simple and relatable humor of people struggling with the task of wrapping gifts to deliver the message “You deal with the wrapping, let The UPS Store deal with getting it there,” presenting The UPS Store’s pack and ship guarantee as the ideal solution to half the problem of shipping your gifts. For the other half, you’re on your own, or you can always beg family, friends or a significant other to help out. Those of us who understand the wrapping struggle will establish a connection to the action that makes the approach memorable and a good way to champion The UPS Store’s holiday offerings.
