New Zealand Apparently Way Less Offended by Atheist Ads than UK

By Kiran Aditham

By now, we’ve figured out that those Kiwis are a fairly, er, ballsy bunch when it comes to their advertising and the country’s audience seems just as open-minded.

Case in point, a recent report from Brand Republic, which says that a new outdoor effort from the The Humanist Society of New Zealand that carries the tagline “There’s Probably No God” has received just one complaint since it launched last month. Compare that to a UK billboard effort with the same slogan from late 2008/early 2009, which was the most complained about ad across the pond last year.

It’s an interesting experiment if anything to gauge how the same tag would affect an audience in a different country. But then again, this isn’t the first time New Zealand has prodded Christians. Take this outdoor ditty from last year, for example, which questions Christ’s conception. Somewhere, Richard Dawkins has to be smiling.
