Martin|Williams Resigns Simmons Account

By Kiran Aditham

Just 18 months after adding Atlanta-based bedding brand Simmons to its client roster, Omnicom-owned, Minneapolis-based “brand activism” agency Martin|Williams has resigned the account, citing “cultural incompatibility.” An M|W spokesperson tells us, though, that the agency will work with Simmons (which is behind the Beautyrest and Comforpedic lines) for the next 60 days, and that its move to cut ties will have minimal impact on revenue and there will be no immediate staffing impact.

Sources familiar with the matter add that after dealing with a “revolving door” of marketing decision makers at Simmons (up to five different heads of marketing/primary agency contacts during the 18-month span) with conflicting priorities, Martin|Williams finally said, “enough.”
