Irony abounds in this new ad from Rhett & Link, a comedy duo originally from North Carolina who make music videos, purposely bad commercials and what not for the web. Here’s one of their newest spots from their “I Love Local Commercials” series for Austin, TX shop True Blue Tattoo.
Using ink and body modification enthusiasts/artists to basically dissuade you from getting a tattoo, the pair explains on their site that “We wanted to make [a commercial] that seemed good, but still seemed ‘off.'” With some dry humor and copy like “Don’t be stupid. You’ll regret it,” time will tell how this will vibe with the tattoo community and/or affect True Blue’s business.
