‘Live Tiles’ Experiment Makes Oslo Passersby the Life of the Party…for Just a Minute

By Kiran Aditham

Oh, what a tease, but truth be told, our expression would be just the same as these dumbfounded Oslo residents, who just happened to stumble upon a downtown dance party they weren’t invited to. Yet, having invoked the powers of Michael Jackson in the “Billie Jean” video, the passersby step on a glowing tile and, voila, the party comes to them. Therein lies the concept of this campaign from McCann Oslo to promote Microsoft’s “Live Tiles” real-time info tool for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 (side note: MSFT is actually being sued over Live Tiles as we speak). Hometown dance-rockers Datarock do a serviceable job in this ditty, which leaves us wondering how or why that bespectacled guy never flinches or puts down his sandwich through the entire affair. Good on him. Credits after the jump.
