Leadership Changes at 180LA as Al Moseley Takes Over for CEO Mike Allen

ICYMI, Adweek broke the news yesterday that partner and global CEO Mike Allen will be leaving the 180 “micro-network” as global president Al Moseley takes over.

Allen spent 11 years in charge of the Omnicom shop’s Amsterdam and Los Angeles offices after helping to run TBWA\Chiat\Day in San Francisco and L.A. and working in-house at Nike.

“It has been an inspiring 11 years for me at 180. I am incredibly proud of the fame and success we have created for our clients through work that has continually positioned us among the best creative agencies in the world. I will always love and appreciate the good people who have called 180 home, and respect the clients who trusted us with their brands and ambitions. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to be around some amazing people and work. I believe more than ever that the climate is right for authentic and brave brands to flourish, and look forward to pursuing some new, developing opportunities in the coming months.”

The shift was somewhat expected following Moseley’s promotion to global president and move from Amsterdam to the West Coast last summer.

Allen’s departure will follow that of 180LA’s chief strategy officer, co-ECD Rafael Rizuto and chief creative officer William Gelner. While the network has lost several major clients over the past year, we’ve been told that they’re very actively pitching and recently won new business with Postmates and Lululemon. Here’s an OOH campaign for the former client that recently went live in L.A.

A spokesperson said that Allen decided to leave in order to pursue other opportunities, but it’s not yet clear what those might be. The agency does not plan to hire a new global CEO.
