Lazare: DDB Chi a Sinking Ship

By Kaitlin Madden

Update: An astute commenter notes we should have said DDB, not TribalDDB.

Chicago Sun-Times reporter Lewis Lazare posted a scathing column on the fate of the “sinking ship” known as TribalDDB Chicago yesterday.

“The exit of so many people from DDB’s rudderless creative department suggests, at the very least, that this agency — if it survives — is going to be something far different than the creatively-driven ad agency it was known to be for decades,” said Lazare, who goes on to say that “a few strong leaders with a vision” might have prevented the agency’s demise.

Apparently DDB won’t even go on the record to discuss its fate with Chicago’s most-revered media columnist, leaving Lazare left to cite only anonymous “sources” in his piece.

Earlier this week we reported the layoffs, but numbers are still unknown.
