Kevin Roberts Is Throwing A Fit About Tony Granger

By SuperSpy

Saatchi superstar Kevin Roberts is getting a bit nasty.
AdWeek
reports that he has not intention of letting Tony Granger head off to become worldwide creative director at Young & Rubicam without a fight. Roberts plans on enforcing the terms of Granger’s contract—which calls for one year’s notice. Yeah. He went there and during an all staff meeting.

Apparently, the entire time that Roberts was fuming, Granger was looking down from an upper floor upon the ECD. Y&R is planning on waiting the terms out. Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi is already looking for Granger’s successor. Will it be you?

When we first reported that Granger was bailing to head to Y&R in November, the comments section of the post was on fire. Here’s our favorites:

“this is why i hate the industry, harvey marco deserves so much more credit than tony. he’s making REAL, good ads on a tough client. toyota is the high water mark of car advertising in the US.

can anyone name the publication those tide ads ran in?”

“Tony Granger was never called stroke. He was a God. Gods aren’t usually called stroke. Like any god his wrath may have been feared, but most creatives would follow him to the ends of the world. Hence Jan Jacobs and other foreign sounding names. If New York is a melting pot, he is simply picking one or two carrots. Sorry I didn’t find this article sooner.”
