Jonathan Hoffman Takes Full-Time Gig at Starcom

By Kiran Aditham

After spending six months as a Starcom consultant, Jonathan Hoffman has now stepped into a full-time role at the Publicis Groupe agency, taking on the post of chief experience officer. Oy, these titles. Anyhow, Starcom’s definition of what a chief experience officer does is that he/she focuses on “idea generation and experience platform development within the media and emerging technology landscape.” Got it.

Anyhow, along with his fancy new title, Hoffman will also join the agency’s managing board and become a member of Starcom MediaVest Group’s Global Product Committee. Hoffman’s last big agency gig, of course, was at Campbell Mithun, where he spent nearly five years and served as president/chief creative officer. Prior to CM, he spent several years at Leo Burnett, eventually serving as CCO of its Warsaw office from 1997-1999 and then vice-chairman/ECD in Chicago from 2000-2005.

Now at Starcom, Hoffman will not only work across the agency’s client roster but he’s tasked with “helping to expand the agency’s product beyond traditional notions of paid media to include earned and owned aspects of human experience as well.” Good luck, sir.
