Joe Garcia Takes Over as McCann Midwest President

The Detroit agency shifts continue this week as it’s been announced that Joe Garcia (pictured) will be joining McCann Midwest as president, effective August 16. As a result of Garcia’s appointment, Garry Neel, who has been holding the dual role of leading McCann’s Birmingham, MI office and overseeing the General Motors business, has been moved to a dedicated post at GM. Neel will now oversee the automaker’s global business and take on the title of EVP, global account director.

Garcia meanwhile is no stranger to the automotive biz as he’s served as CEO of BBDO Detroit since 2004 and oversaw the agency’s Chrysler business, which included the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Mopar (Parts & Service) brands. Prior to that, he spent several years at DMB&B as EVP, global group account director on Cadillac.
