Jamie Gutfreund Joins Wunderman as Global CMO

By Erik Oster

Wunderman announced that Jamie Gutfreund has joined the agency as global chief marketing officer, tasked with raising Wunderman’s profile in the advertising community.

“I view the 175 offices around the world as my clients,” she told Adweek. “My job is to help weave the story together on a global level and also on a local level.”

Gutfreund arrives at Wunderman from full-service marketing agency Deep Focus, where she spent nearly a year as chief marketing officer. Before that, she spent over four years with strategic consulting firm The Intelligence Group as chief strategy officer, establishing and managing its consulting practice, expanding its conference series and managing public relations. That followed a year as chief marketing officer for Noise. She has also served as director, business development for companies including Expedia, Prodigy Communications and Microsoft, where she spent five years beginning in 1996.

“If you look back 10 years, Wunderman’s gone through that transition from being a direct marketing agency to a digital agency,” CEO Mark Read told Adweek. “If you go for another 10 years, it’s really more of the same but more emphasis on the work, and more emphasis on creativity. I think we’re very well known for being global. We’re very known for getting work done. But we could be better known for our work.”

What we’re going to be looking for are ways not just to sell,” added Gutfreund, “but to also educate and inspire.”
