Here’s Some Clarification on Avon’s Latest Agency Move

By Kiran Aditham

Let’s quickly alleviate some confusion some tipsters may have, including those who sent us notes like, “Ogilvy loses Avon account to Badger & Winters.” Well, slow down, kids. First off, Ogilvy itself is not working with Avon, it is actually said agency’s New York-based, WPP partner company Soho Square, which Avon itself tells us remains agency of record for the beauty/cosmetics seller.

From what we’ve been told by an Avon spokesperson, the brand submitted an RFP for a “special project” and in the end, it was fellow New York-based shop Badger & Winters that was awarded the assignment. We’re as out of the loop as George Costanza thus far on what this special project entails, but sources are telling us that Soho Square and even W+K participated in the pitch, but it was B&W, an 18-year-old shop that has worked with several fashion/beauty brands including Calvin Klein and CoverGirl as well as Pepsi over the years, that won out.
