Heat Adds Trio of New Hires Across Creative, Accounts and Production

By Erik Oster

Full-service San Francisco agency Heat, which was acquired by Deloitte Digital in February, appointed three new hires: creative director Elaine Cox; account director, new business Alexis Lovett; and head of integrated production Joyce Chen.

Cox joins Heat from Pereira & O’Dell, where she spent the last year as a creative director and copywriter working with clients including Hyatt, HTC, Monster Strike, Skype, and BevMo. That stint followed five years as a copywriter/ACD with FCB Global, where she worked on campaigns for Electronic Arts, Dockers, Kikkoman, Trulia, Ghirardelli and Levi’s. Before joining FCB, she worked as a freelance senior copywriter with agencies including Razorfish, Camp+King, Gyro International and Grey Worldwide.

Moving forward, Cox will partner with Jonathan “JB” Byrne on new business initiatives. According to the email announcement, Heat is very excited about the fact that Cox’s husband Justin already works there as director of strategy.

Lovett joins Heat from Venables Bell and Partners, where she spent the last year as an account director. Before joining VB&P, she spent two years at Eleven, Inc., where she served as a management supervisor, following a year-long stint as an advertising and media manger contractor with Electronic Arts. Before that, she spent seven years at DraftFCB, beginning as an assistant account executive in 2006 and working her way up management supervisor before leaving in 2013.

Chen also joins the agency from VB&P, where she served as executive producer for the past two years, working with brands including Google, Reebok, adidas Golf, Skyy Vodka and Blue Moon. She originally joined VB&P as a broadcast and experiential producer in January of 2011, a role she held for three years before being promoted to executive producer. Prior to joining VB&P, she spent two and a half years as a broadcast producer with twofifteenmccann, focusing on the agency’s Xbox account after working on McCann Worldgroup’s Microsoft business in the same role.

Outside the world of advertising, Joyce recently directed and produced a short documentary film called Refugee, trailer available here.
