Geico Insurance Holders Are Happier Than Gallagher Smashing Watermelons

By Ella Riley-Adams

Tonight during the Late Show with David Letterman, Martin Agency will officially unveil yet another campaign for Geico, this time featuring “comedian” Gallagher, who of course is best known for smashing watermelons with a sledgehammer.

Not surprisingly, that’s exactly what he does in the first of the Geico ads, when he finds himself at a farmer’s market where the melons are stacked high. Geico asks, “How happy are people who save hundreds of dollars on car insurance?” Apparently they’re even happier than Gallagher, who does look insanely gleeful swinging his trademark tool. Future spots will show that Geico customers are also happier than Christopher Columbus with speedboats and a Slinky on an escalator. But is it really possible to surpass the joy of a Slinky on an escalator? That’s the question of the day.
