You just have to applaud GE and the Barbarian Group for their amazing teamwork in the digital sphere during the last few years. Not only did this team making looking at giant machines and sprawling factories compelling, but their frequent use of video and photography somehow made this 120-year-old company actually, well, hip. But then, maybe “vintage” is a better term.
For its latest campaign, GE built a remote-controlled helicopter with a built-in camera, and then asked their fans to determine what GE-related place their little contraption would spy on. After 18,000 votes, the contraption (“Coptera”? “Helicam?”) hovered above three locations across the country. After visiting a baby incubator lab in Maryland, the Helicopter visited the a jet engine factory (shown above) in North Carolina. I opted for the latter video because it seemed manlier, and because I want GE to think I’m cool so they’ll invite me to the parties you just know they’re having somewhere.
