Freelance Photographer Sues Colle+McVoy

There’s nothing really conspicuous about this rather placid group photo above, but it’s at the heart of a lawsuit being filed by music/commercial photographer Clark Patrick Goebel against Minneapolis-based agency Colle+McVoy.

In the suit filed earlier this month, Goebel, proprietor of Clark Patrick Photography and founder of bicycle advocacy org Unite Bike, alleges that he was contacted by Colle+McVoy, which asked for permission to use the photo for a pro bono project but Goebel later found out that the agency actually received compensation for the effort.

According to the suit, despite due demand, C+M has failed to disclose the amount of compensation it received or offer compensation to Goebel for the use of his image. When reached for comment, Colle+McVoy didn’t say much because it’s a legal matter but added that the agency would be filing a response this week denying all accusations.
