DirecTV Indulges Fantasy of Actually Owning Mini-Giraffes

By Kiran Aditham

While the Russian oligarch is the star of Grey New York’s DirecTV “Opulence” work, the real scene-stealer of course is the mini-giraffe, which got a good workout in the latest spot for the brand that rolled out last week. But who knew there was an actual animal farm breeding these “petite lap giraffes?” That’s the premise of a clever web component of the campaign that transports us to Sokoblovsky Farms, where you can watch a “live” feed of the goings on via a “Giraffe-cam.”

With broken English intact, the site also features specs of the unfortunately fictional creatures, a whole backstory behind “Russia’s finest purveyors” of petite laps as well as as a look at the “family” including Bull Vladimir, Cow Raina and Cow Svetlana. We say cheers to Grey for adding a nice extra layer to the already well-received broadcast executions.
