Digitas Boston Starts ‘When Will It Melt?’ Twitter Contest

By Bob Marshall

“When does all of this snow crap intend to melt?” This has been the question plaguing the United States (excluding Florida) this winter, as it seems everyone has been affected in one way or another by the white devil powder from the sky. And, if you live in a neighborhood where your entire street doesn’t see the value in shoveling, it sucks that much more.

Being the fun-loving optimists they are, the folks at Digitas Boston is choosing to have a gas as springtime nears with their “When Will it Melt?” contest, asking Twitter tweeter-twatters to twestimate when the snow will melt and flood houses built at the bottom of hills. While the “it” in question refers to the snow in Boston, anyone can enter the contest, with the grand prize being an iPad pre-loaded with Digitas Cache, the agency’s magazine built specifically for the device. Digitas’ “in-house meteorologist” will end the contest when Boston’s Government Center determines there’s no more snow on the ground.

To enter, contestants should Tweet the day they predict the Snowtorious B.I.G. will melt using the hashtag #whenwillitmelt. Entries are accepted until Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. With the unseasonal heatwave that a large amount of the country is experiencing (it’s currently 55 degrees in Boston), the smart money might be on today.
