This morning we learned that Deutsch LA signed Matthew O’Rourke as its newest Executive Creative Director.
O’Rourke has worn several hats during his decade-plus in the agency world: Copywriter at MRM; ECD at CP&B; GCD at McCann; owner of a stolen bike. In his most recent role he served as Creative Director at W+K, where he famously worked on campaigns for Old Spice, Levi’s, Sony, Powerade and Oreo.
Deutsch CCO Pete Favat says the hire is part of his agency’s efforts to build “an ‘A Class’ of creative talent across all disciplines.”
In the new role, O’Rourke will “co-lead all digital efforts” with fellow ECD Jerome Austria, who recently rejoined Deutsch after leaving to embark on “a four-month surfing vacation” in 2012.
O’Rourke’s take on the move:
“The office is full of brilliant people that I respect very much, and I’m humbled that they’ve asked me to join them. I cannot wait to throw away my sunlamp and get down there.”
Most importantly, he is the unanimous winner of our unofficial Headshot of the Week contest. Yes, it’s only Wednesday–but we can already tell you it won’t even be close.
