DDB LA’s done a fine enough job in portraying “The Majestic Plastic Bag”, a mockumentary for “Heal the Bay,” a non-profit environmental org based in SoCal. You could see this clip, which is narrated by Oscar winner Jeremy Irons, being a part of National Geographic’s Life series.
It’s an interesting idea, though I’m uncertain if it’s the right approach. But the numbers are staggering. In Cali, 19 billion bags are used every year, creating over 123,000 tons of unnecessary waste, costing taxpayers $25 million in cleanup costs a year. It’s a serious problem which needs to be addressed with a little more oomph and not a “majestic” creature floating about harmlessly. But I digress.
