DDB Chicago Is Taking Skittles, Steven Tyler to the Super Bowl

By Erik Oster

DDB Chicago will take Skittles back to the Super Bowl this year, following up last year’s bizarre arm wrestling contest with an ad starring Steven Tyler.

We don’t have much in the way of details, as so far the brand has only released the above 2-second teaser GIF. What we do know is that Skittles created “a custom, one-of-a-kind Skittles covered microphone for Steven,” who appears to be sing-shouting into said microphone in a library. We’re not sure how Tyler wandered into a library, or what he’s singing (hopefully not “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”), or if he will be tempted to pick candy from the microphone over the course of the 30-second ad. The ad marks the brand’s second appearance in the Super Bowl and the first time it has featured a celebrity in a broadcast spot, following Marshawn Lynch‘s appearance in a digital ad by Olson Engage last year. As to what actually will go down in this year’s big game ad, your guess is as good as ours.
